The Punisher

Chalk pastels,India ink, acrylic paint,& spray paint on 20X30 black foamcore board.

Got really experimental with this piece and as frustrating as it was at times, I had fun and I really like the final product.

I suppose I had some Bradstreet inspiration in the back of my head, as I really think he's got the definitive version of Castle down.

I was sorely disappointed by Punisher:Warzone, but my love for the character still remains!

I love it! I see you went off of Jim Lee's skull. Great facial detail. The lower lip seems a bit too pronounced, but otherwise it's beautiful.
I knew War Zone was going to be bad, but it suprised me a little. It was better than I expected. I was basically a remake of the 1989 with Dolph Lundgren (he was horrendous). Because it took place after his family's death, it was inevitably condemned to be a mindless actioner. 2004 on the other hand made us live through the origin, and thusly sacrificed action to storyline. I prefer Tom Jane, but War Zone is a bit of a guilty pleasure.

the colours are great, and the detail in the face is great. the yellow edge of the punisher logo is really effective in making it glow. I can see that this would have taken some planning, cause of all the layering, especially since it's not digital.

this is an awesome piece. I always liked the Punisher for seeming more real a character, as opposed to costumed superheroes like Captain America and stuff

You thought warzone was bad? Why? It wasnt the crappy pg 13 tom jane stuff. Ray Stevenson lookedl ike Castle, it had awesome action, awesome violence etc.

Ray Stevenson was the man. I really liked him as The Punisher, his action sequences were great But thats where it ended. The lack of a story, Jigsaw was a bad joke and reminded me of Tommy Lee Jones as Two Face which is a very bad thing. The movie really had two major action scenes...The first act and the last. I just couldn't stand it. I didn't go in there expecting The Dark Knight but sadly the lackluster story and character development really turned me off...oh yea and Jigsaw.

I did however really enjoy Ray wrecking havoc in true punisher fashion when he was on screen.

I rather liked Jigsaw. Especially the way he looked. He was definetly a little over the top, if they toned him down a bit, then it woulda been better, but Dominic West played the role he was given down to a T.
Again though, I loved his look, definetly scary.

As for the story, I totally get what you mean. If it had the tom jane punishers story with WZ action, violence and Stevenson, it woulda been perfect.

The writing was horrible, the acting was horrible, the cg action scenes looked absolutely horrid. War Zone had nothing on the actually watchable Tom Jane version.

I thought the violence was great. I didnt see anything wrong with either West or Stevenson. West is a great actor, his part was just too over the top. Ray was a good Punisher. One,he looked the part and two he didnt show too much emotion. He was badass.

The action was great, but I thought the gore was slightly over-the-top. Ray was great. He was more accurately cast for Frank, whose DOB is 1950. But I think there was a little too much emotion for the context of the rest of the movie. He was a bad-ass. I agree, West was okay. "That's no way to punish the Punisher!" Love that line. But yes, some of the writing was really bad. IMHO Tom Jane has the upper hand as far as movie quality is concerned, but War Zone was slightly truer to the comics, and it was more of a guilty pleasure. And btw they had to tone down Tom's. Any more than what you saw, and it was X. Apparently standards changed in 4 years.

Speaking of Stevenson, he'll be in the upcoming Thor movie, playing Volstagg, one of the Warriors Three.
